The following ultimatum was delivered to the Danish Ambassador on January 19th, the year of our Lord 1862. "In accordance with the repudiation of the treaty of London concluding the previous Prusso-Danish war, the Kingdom of Prussia declares the duchies of Schleswig, Lauenburg and Holstein to be independent and shall be administered to by Prussia until such time as a government shall be established capable of self-government under Frederick, Duke of Augstenburg. In achieving this goal, His Majesty King Wilhelm I demands the following of His Majesty King Frederick VII of Denmark: 1. All soldiers and ships owing allegiance to him shall be evacuated from all land south of the northern border of the ducky of Slesvig within 48 hours. 2. His Majesty shall invite within 48 hours of the receipt of this missive to meet representatives from all nations signatory to the Treaty of Constantinople (1861) as well as the Kingdom of Sweden and person as well as writing renounce on behalf of the House of Oldenburg and the Kingdom of Denmark any claim to the duchies of Slesvig, Lauenburg, or Holstein in perpetuity as well as formally acknowledge the legitimacy of the Prussian administration thereof. Should either condition fail to be met within the allotted time, the Kingdom of Prussia shall have no other recourse but to employ military means against the King of Denmark, and any concessions at the end of that war will be much graver. On my Royal authority, [X] King Wilhelm I of Prussia"
