Spain will say no. Fighting is cool and all, but she has to fix her own problems first. Plus America kind of stole some of her things during the Spanish-American war some time ago and England's always been a jerk, so she'll be like 'nah' and sit this one out. But that won't stop her from 'helping' the sides, or at least the countries she likes. 

Random survival! It'll be great to get a pair where they would just kill each other. No, wait, that's bad. They have to survive, not die. I suppose one could sacrifice the other to the island gods or something if it became too drastic.
