This truth is most apparent in this system of legalized piracy implemented in Article 7 of the treaty proper; an article that not only forsakes the freedom of trade, but all the facets of modern diplomacy. While, we could have expected a move like this from the Ottomans considering they have a long history of promoting piracy; seeing so-called Christian nations stoop so low is rather disheartening.
