9/11, TSA, the War on Terror, The War on Drugs, all media highlighting shootings even though gun crime is actually on the drop, complete militarization of the police, Homeland Security, NSA, Patriot Act, National Defense Authorization Act, Drone use not just in war but in the states and on American civilians... 

That's just the evident stuff, and I'm not even getting into conspiracy theories... It is a police state.
