(This is the first page of our posts. We have about four more that I'll post later)
Caits: Connor followed, stopping as he unlocked the car. A bit paranoid for school, but then it was a school for those with gifts, so...Connor shrugged, and got in the car, buckling in, holding his pack. He waited a minute before sighing. "I'll need more information if I'm going to help" Dizzy: Kijani was in the lab alone for what felt like hours, trying to fight back the nauseating fear threatening to take her over. She still couldn't move her limbs, and her head was so heavy that keeping her eyes open was a great effort. She'd tried, reflexively, to use her powers, but felt nothing, absolutely nothing. Anthony had made her completely powerless. There was screaming, somewhere. High pitched, like the voice of a child. Kijani's collar was soaked with sweat, and she clenched her jaw to keep from whimpering. All she could do was wait- with no windows and no clocks to be found, her sense of time faded into the background. It could have been an hour, two hours, twenty minutes, before she heard noise coming toward her. Her body tried to tense for battle, but nothing happened, no matter how much she begged her muscles to respond. She knew that noise somehow, but it wasn't until it was nearly there that she could place it. It was the careful tapping of the heel of a pump on the ground. Size 11 wide, always leather shined to perfection, and with a standard, half inch heel. Kijani summoned what remained of her courage, and lifted her head. The moment the woman entered, they locked eyes. Somehow, a smile crossed Kijani's face. “Hello, grandmother.” Knight: Anthony sighs as he replies with a nod, "I assumed as much." After sliding into the driver's seat and pulling out of the parking lot. "I may have told you that Kijani was kidnapped after we were on our way back from dinner, but I didn't tell you why we went out. Kijani has been curious about certain aspects of a certain relative's history, and I was helping her with the research. We may have turned over some stones that we shouldn't have, and she was mostly likely taken to a complex that said relative created. That, Mr. Stark, is our destination." Caits: Connor frowned. That really didn't give him much to go on, and if he had had the proper equipment with him he would have tried to hack Anthony, but given the amount of protection he had for his car, Connor doubted his phone would be any good. He also didn't know how much truth he could put into what Anthony said, given the fact that Anthony would do whatever he wanted to achieve his goals. So Connor was wary that this could all be a trap. "Which is where?" He asked. Knight: Anthony shrugs, "I could tell you the exact location, but that won't get us there any quicker. We have about a three hour drive ahead of us, so I suggest you either get some sleep or check your equipment." Caits: Connor settled back in the seat, and did check his equipment, just for something to do, but soon, he ended up looking out the window. He tried to plan for what might happen, and what he might have to do. Something about Anthony's story didn't make sense. Why would Kijani tell him she wasn't feeling well if it was just discussion with Anthony? That didn't make sense to him, and he tried to figure it out. He frowned, and continued looking out the window. Dizzy: Think about the worst parts of the hospital, and then think about horror movie level tension. Silence. Unsettling dead silence, until a disembodied scream breaks the silence. It fades off into the unknown distance, and you never know where it came from, or who it was. It is clean. Too clean. It smells of disinfectant in the halls, with that unusual scent particular to a hospital setting. The hallways are a near colorless gray. There are no windows. Only metal doors with numbered markings. Imagine blank-eyed children in eerily pristine white clothing. They are lackluster, quiet, slow... old people in small bodies. Knight: After driving for three more hours, Anthony parks the car as a solitary, gray building comes into view. With a deep breath, he turns to Connor and asks, "Are you ready?" Caits: Connor nodded, looking up at the building. "ready" He said, shifting his pack, ready to use his suit at any notice Dizzy: "Look at you, Kijani. Here I thought you were worth something with the right training." She scoffed faintly. "My mistake. It seems I can't change your innate worthlessness." Kijani flinched, as if she'd been physically struck. "W-worthless? I'm not worthless." Her grandmother frowned, accentuating small lines around her mouth. "Kijani, did you know your mother wanted to abort you?" A choked noise escaped Kijani's throat as she registered what Waller had just claimed. "N-nngh. You're lying." She tried to put anger into her voice, but the words cracked halfway through. Waller looked unbothered. "Kijani, I've never lied to you. Not once. I've only told you the plain truth of the world." Her eyes bore into Kijani's. "Your mother didn't want you. She was nearly through med school and determined to have the best in life. Your father was... indifferent." The frown on her face deepened into subtle signs of annoyance. "For some reason, your mother's mother said it wasn't right for you to suffer for your parents' mistake. They argued about it until it was too late to do the deed. You were born, your parents' futures delayed. Don't you see, Kijani, that you were born into a world that didn't want you before you even existed?" Kijani's voice trembled as she spoke past her closing throat. "S-stop it..." She shut her eyes, squeezing hard, as if that could also close her ears. "They let you know early the truth of the matter. I know your mother made no pretenses of her hatred, at least, though I'm fairly sure your father didn't think you were worth the energy. Both of them treated you for what you are." Waller stepped forward and gripped Kijani's chin. "Look at me, girl. You are a tool. You are to be used until something better comes along." "Stop it! Stop talking!" Kijani screamed, her voice raw. "No! You need to hear the truth. You are only worth as much as what other people make of you. Your mother wanted a trophy of motherhood. You only existed in her world when she wanted you to. Your mistaken ally Anthony wanted your loyalty and your blindness. In return, he muzzles you like a rabid dog and delivers you to me, gift-wrapped. Even your boyfriend, young Mr. Stark-" Kijani clenched her teeth hard. "Connor isn't using me-" "Isn't he? He is changing because of you, Kijani. Becoming more cultured, more confident- once he gets everything he wants from you, he'll be done. You'll have no worth to him." Kijani was trembling violently, freezing cold except for the violent burning of the scar on her side. She couldn't even speak anymore, because her brain couldn't come up with a counter-argument. Her parents had let her go without a fight. if she hadn't had the sense to sue them for her independence and inheritance, she would have been on her own with nothing. Anthony's treatment was somehow worse. He'd treated her like she was worth something, had gone so far as to teach her, and even publicly praise her. She'd trusted him, in a way. It had all been a lie. She'd been played, used, start to finish, and the proof was all around her. Her grandmother could be wrong about Connor, but given the way everyone else treated her... How could she truly close her eyes to what had happened, time and time again? Waller's voice was low, almost soothing. "Yes, I freely admit I knew about your kidnapping, though I had no direct hand in it. And no, I did not come charging to your rescue. But... consider the full truth, Kijani. Why should I treat you as more than you are? You are a tool... and at least I was attempting to make you a weapon. I don't fail often. I have with you." Waller stood back, shaking her head. "After all of my training, you are still... useless." With that, she started to move toward the door. "I don't expect we'll speak again. Goodbye, Kijani." Soon there was no sound in the room except for Waller's fading footsteps, and the soft echoing of Kijani's sobs. Knight: Anthony nods and says quietly as he exits the car, "Oh, I forgot to mention. There will almost definitely be metahumans, so I'll be using my abilities if needed. You may want to use your suit." Caits: Connor nodded, and in moments, had his suit on. It was better than being affected by Anthony's powers. Connor again wondered, briefly, if there was a way of counter acting Anthony's abilities without his suit. He pushed that aside for later, scanning the area, and having Ignot check for any traps or such around them. It was times like these that Connor was glad he had a whole different operating system than his fathers. He could have taken the easy way out and used Jarvis, but Connor didn't want that. Right Now, it meant that his father couldn't trace what he was doing. If something went wrong though, and Connor wasn't responsive, Ignot would connect with Jarvis’ or his father quickly. "Let’s go" Knight: As they walk toward the large, grey building, a flickering sign throws a weak light onto the parking lot. Anthony examines the roof of the building as he approaches, his eyes trying to pierce the darkness. "Mr. Stark, would you be kind enough to attempt to disable any cameras within one hundred yards? I'm sure they know we're here, but there's no point in them knowing exactly where we are. Also, would you please remain outside for now?" Caits: Connor was already looking for camera's and attempting to disable them. With Ignot, it was easy to do so. If he had had to do so with a computer, it would have taken longer, but with the suit's technology, it was the simplest thing in the world. .As long as He didn't set off any alarms, he was fine. "Why should I remain outside?" He more demanded then asked. Connor wasn't about to let Anthony do whatever he wanted. He was sure that Anthony had another motive for coming here. How did Connor know Kijani was even here? All he was doing was taking Anthony's word for truth, but Connor knew Anthony twisted situations around for his own gain. So Connor only took half of what Anthony said as truth, and the other half as half-truths. "I'm not doing this so you can have free rain of a facility that may or may not hold Kijani" He said. Knight: Anthony sighs as he turns on his heels and gives Connor a look of exasperation. "This is a waste of time, but I'll explain if I must. I'm going to walk inside, tell the receptionist that I have a package for Ms. Waller in my car. When she inevitably sends her men outside with me, you'll take care of them. They'll have the key cards necessary to descend into the depths of the complex, then, it'll be up to you to disable any security systems while and help me look for Kijani." Caits: Connor stared back at Anthony's exasperated expression with a simple blank stare. Connor saw no issue with him explaining. How was he to help if he wasn't told what was going to happen? "It's customary To tell people what they need to do rather then springing it on them. Go" he slammed his mask down, and moved away, turning back to watch Anthony. Knight: Anthony chuckles slightly, "I apologize, but I enjoy seeing how people react to surprise. I'd say sue me, but you'd end up paying me if we went to court." Leaving Connor behind, Anthony strides toward the office building that bears the name, "Primatech." Once inside, he approaches the front desk and says to the receptionist, "Hello, I'm Mr. Luthor and I'm here to see Ms. Waller."
