I've also been thinking about grabbing some of these flint stones from the side of the road near my work, and cutting/sanding them down into chess pieces. Wouldn't mind having a quartz and flint chess piece set. Might get good enough to actually sell them for a nifty price.

Regardless of what you decide to do as a hobby, stick with it because some things can actually be profitable. Not like, making model cars, but say working with clay and figuring out how to make badass statues to sell on Amazon.
