Roger slept restlessly through the night, wondering how the captain was doing. He had started to learn the skills of a sailor and was sure that before he hit land he would be more of a sailor than he had ever dreamed possible. As it was though, he was still unskilled labor. He missed seeing the Captain. They had grown closer on land, but now at sea she had her responsibilities, and he had his. He had hardly talked with her since leaving port. In the morning, he woke bright and early, with the first bell, and started back to work. The work was good for his muscles, after months of inactivity.
