Got it to work this morning. This game isn't as hard as I had heard. It seems my biggest foe isn't the enemies, the traps, the bosses, or such. It's my curious nature resulting in me 'testing to see if I can safely walk off this cliff like I did that other one oh nope can't and I'm dead' half a bazillion times.
