As a fellow player, I would point to the actions of the A.I. of the UNSC Icarus, and how it was perfectly keen to get comprehensive data about everyone else in the blink of an eye. With that in mind, I don't think that having everyone else know about some aspects of each other's tech is nearly as potentially disastrous as being able to use it for oneself.. Even if someone else gets their hands on that sorta stuff, we could hand-wave it to say 'we can't make it work' or 'we don't know how to make it work'. 

In theory, in this case, it would be the equivalent of getting your hands on a cool gadget that you KNOW does cool stuff, but you can't MAKE it do that cool stuff, because you either can't fix it, or you don't know how to operate it, etc.
