I think some of the best parts of the Original Series were the relationships between the Crew Members. They were part of what made the storyline so memorable. Also..just the general otherworldly feel of these places they visited. Its the sense of something being completely alien. Yet at the same time, some of my favorite episodes were the ones that did a philosophical examination of the Human State. So I guess my top two preferences for focus would be relationships and a sense of wonder in the worlds we visit.

Also strategy. Even the little bit I know about Picard in comparison to Kirk is enough to know that while there is plenty of action, Strategy is how the Enterprise typically won. So just my opinions!
