Very true, not sure what they'll do right now to ensure their communication is not overheard. Although it might not be a bad idea if both our polity's come up with some form of encrypted transmission, enabling them to talk and no one else to listen in. Those with sophisticated AI's and subspace comms may be able to crack the code - which IIRC numbers just us two; and the Empire are not great at computer security.
