No no. Vein isn't ever "out of it" Vein is Steve if he were to just let his aggression go buck wild. Think of it like this:

The Id is the part of your mind that wants pleasure no matter the consequences.
The Ego is the part that wants that same pleasure, but without the consequences. Ego holds Id in check.
The Superego is your conscience. Superego drives Ego to do whats right.

Mr. Vein is Id. Steve is Ego.
