After Carson answered Mikael's questions, Mikael just sat in the passenger seat and stared out the window, contemplating everything. By the time they pulled up to the check point, Mikael still wasn't one hundred percent sure he could trust the wolves. 'Only time would tell', he thought as he gave an inward shrug. The man at the checkpoint seemed to indicate that Mikael looked the part, but he was much too busy staring out the window to notice. Only when Carson killed the engine did Mikael snap out of his trance. Looking up after being in such a deep trance, Mikael nodded and said, "I think I'll be hanging around here as well. I have time to scope everything out after I know exactly what's going on." Right as Mikael finished talking, David pulled up on his bike. Even though the road they took was gravel, the bike looked pristine. There wasn't a scratch or a spot on it. It was beautiful. Suddenly, Mikael realized David was offering him a cig. While Mikael had smoked on and off, he never really like the things, but, against his better judgement, reached out and grabbed one. He flipped it in his hand, waiting for David to light the cig, and once David lit it, Mikael moved his hand towards his mouth. After a long inhale and subsequent exhale of smoke through his nose, Mikael nodded and said, "Thanks. I normally don't smoke, but after the past few days, and what I'm sure will be coming soon, I needed this." After Mikael finished talking, he went back to taking deep drags from the cigarette, analyzing David. He had never met a vampire and didn't know what to think of them. From what he knew, vampires didn't like werewolves and vice versa. That meant, at least to Mikael, the two had a common enemy, and as the saying goes 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' Mikael was almost done with his smoke when he pulled it out of his mouth, flicking the ashes onto the gravel below, when he nodded toward David and said, "Carson told me you have an interesting story. Care to share?"
