"I, Otto von Bismarck, speaking on behalf of the entire Prussian government, vehemently deny these allegations and demand that the Austrian government present proof immediately. From what I saw of this document, it lacked any sort of authenticating marks. If we presented our treaty, why wouldn't we hand it to you already signed by a duly authorized Prussian representative? That fact would compel the Austrians, if they wanted a convincing forgery, to replicate the seal and signature of the King, which they neglected to do. Were there any witnesses? This is a clear forgery and reprehensible propaganda to justify a ridiculous blockade."
