Name: Nevaeh Seppänen née Franzhousers Age: 33 Sex: Female Occupation: Former Truck Driving Instructor & Full-time Mom Race and Origin: American with German ancestry via the paternal side and English ancestry via the maternal side (Human) Nevaeh is the second daughter of a traditional Texan rancher. She spent most of her childhood there before heading east at the age of 11. Neve might be a rugged cowgirl at heart, but she was never considered a true blue Texan because her mom is from Massachusetts. The fact that her mom owns a property in Salem made the close-knit community consider the sisters and their mom as “outsiders”. Appearance: Nevaeh is not your traditional blonde haired, blue-eyed American. She has dark brown wavy curly hair which she keeps at shoulder length and equally dark brown mischievous eyes. This small-framed pixie is about a head shorter than her husband who is approximately 6 feet 2. Her slender build and lack of make-up makes people assume she is younger than she really is. Dressing up like a grown-up tomboy doesn’t help her make a better first impression. Neve loves wearing jeans and boots with a plain top. It is no secret that she prefers long sleeve tops that resemble the western cowboy shirt. Her accessories are often limited to a pair of brown tinted sunglasses, simple loop earrings, her wedding band, a small antique pocket watch strung on a silver chain and a leather backpack. She has only two dresses in her entire wardrobe, and they are reserved for formal occasions. Equipment: iPad, phone with a 4.3 mega pixel camera which used to belong to her husband, a Swiss army knife, a wallet filled with different credit cards, a pouch that contains the family’s passports, a box of band aids, sweets and Tupperware containers filled with snacks, random toys and her car keys. Abilities/Talents: Neve inherited her family’s gift - she is able to bring things to life by simply willing it. However she requires a picture or a strong mental image before she can give that particular thought a corporeal form. Her ability is not as innocent as it sounds because she is unconsciously summoning a demon and giving it a vessel to dwell in. According to her she suspects that her imaginary friends are still out there somewhere, particularly the naughty gingerbread man that ate her neighbor’s dog. History: 15-year-old Nevaeh had a strange fascination with witch craft, and she started practicing what she believed to be Wicca. She claimed that she is a witch because her mom's family have been in Salem for generations. The thrill slowly faded when they realized that nothing exciting ever happened even when they were following all those weird rituals according to the book. Naturally she had forgotten all about her childhood escapades involving her more sinister imaginary friends. Like every teenager she soon found other things to keep herself occupied. Only this time it was church. Neve completely renounced her sinful ways as she embraced on her new life as a born again Christian. By the time she started college at the age of 22, she had become jaded once again. Nothing seemed as exciting anymore, and people at church had disappointed her far too often for her to even bother attending service regularly. It was during this emotional slump that she first met Dr. Richard Dalton. She was so enamored by him, that she declared Literature as her major even before she finished her first semester. For the next three semesters she was one of his most devoted students – she always sat right at the front during lecture, and she seemed to have committed most of his papers and books to memory. She even emailed him regularly to discuss her theories about various topics covered during his lectures and tutorials. Her pet topic was poetry. By the end of the first year she knew she wanted to use poetry as the topic for her honors thesis. She would have been contented with finishing her degree in Literature had she not met the charming Jahho-Pekka the summer before her third year. Things were a little awkward at the beginning because of their 6 years age gap, but Neve realize that the Fin was someone she would be very happy with for the next 30 years at the very least. Even at such a young age she was not sentimental enough to believe in the concept of soul mates. However, she was disappointed to learn that J-P intended to go back to Finland at the end of the year, so she took a semester off and traveled around with him. She didn't even care that it would be Dr. Dalton's last semester. Her boyfriend was the only thing on her mind. She hated the fact that she will not be able to see him that often anymore. Just before Christmas, Neve discovered she was pregnant. Her then boyfriend proposed shortly afterwards and suggested she goes back with him. He was so surprised by how quickly she accepted that he pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her several times passionately. They were married two weeks after the New Year, and they welcomed their first child, Minkka, in August that same year. While Neve planned to finish her degree initially, one thing led to another, and somehow she never found the right time to do so during the last 8 years. She planned to return to university after Antti is old enough to start school. Neve was keen to major in literature, but she suspected her husband might not be too pleased with the idea. Her hunch was right. They argued for several months because neither wanted to recant. She wished he would learn to appreciate poetry for what it should be - a beautiful art form and a medium rich in culture and history. Noticing that their constant quarreling was stressing the children, Nevaeh pretended to be persuaded by her husband's point of view. Yet the more she thought about poetry the more she missed her favorite professor. He was the only one who truly understands her point of view. This is why she happily attempted to seek him out by tapping on her old network back in the States shortly before her husband announced that he was posted to Japan. She had no idea that Richard Dalton no longer exists. Others: She is familiar with a wide range of guns having grown up on a ranch. She loves horseback riding and skeet shooting. She is currently considering starting her husband on a low-carb diet She is fascinated by Asian culture so she looks forward to living in Japan for a few years. She has been learning Japanese for the last 6 months to prepare for the move.
