Not really.
For an explosion to do obliterating damage it needs a sort of shrapnel. Causing explosions by air only really causes a massive shockwave that can propel things, or burn them. 

It's not like harpy girl couldn't put a hole in you with compressed air.

I'm pretty sure everyone's magic is fairly lethal. 

I know my character will be a ticking time bomb.
