I definitely think the animation magic and person who has no one in life but his toys could fit very well in this setting, just not in his current form. What if you made him younger, more of a child, a magical prodigy who lost everyone he loved in the Fracturing? And now, he and his toys have to fight for survival in a very unfriendly world, all that good stuff?
