So SirBeowulf up there showed this RP to me, and I figured "why not." So, here's a character, feel free to accept or deny it at your leisure. Name: Miranda Crosley Call Sign: Red, after her unorthodox hair, and favorite color. Appearance/Description: At 5'6" and 120 pounds Red isn't any bigger than an average woman her age. Actually, she is almost exactly average size. Her build is similarly average, if a bit thin, but underneath her clothes she is rather toned. She wouldn't be in the military if she wasn't. Her namesake hair is a somewhat strange dull red color and her eyes are brown. She wears her hair short for practicality reasons, only going down to her neck. She also seems to constantly have a rather focused expression on her face at all times which, to someone that doesn't know her, makes her look slightly angry. Personnel Description: Red's personality can be best described as "deadpan." In almost every situation she tends to keep a straight face, rarely letting out more than a light chuckle or an angry grunt. That's not to say she's unemotional, it's just that she doesn't show it very much. She tends to come off as aloof due to this, but on the contrary she tends to be very meddlesome, since she always seems to feel that she has a say in arguments, even in ones not involving her. She also speaks very plainly, and has a tendency for sarcasm, even in times where it would be out of place. However, she is slightly odd to talk to, due to always leaving an extra half-second pause before she speaks. It's not large, but it's noticeable, and mildly awkward. Backstory Description: Miranda was actually born in the UK, and lived in a rather urban area. She lived there most of her childhood, until she was about 14 or so, when her parents moved to the U.S. with her. All throughout school, in both countries, she was always a star athlete, whether it be the track team or the swimming team. It wasn't until the time she moved to the U.S. that she got an interest in guns when her grandfather (that had been in the U.S. his whole life, and was an army veteran) took her shooting. She loved it - the calm, silent afternoons spent hunting the forest, the louder evening spent at firing ranges. She had almost grown up from that point on with a rifle in her hands, and she had, overall, a wonderful childhood. Except for her grades in school, which hovered around straight D's. Her poor grades locked her out of almost every college save for community ones, and she never had any interest in them anyway. Rather, as soon as she graduated at 18 she took her grandfather's advice and went into the army. Her years as an athlete in highschool, as well as all the shooting really payed off. She excelled in it, and as a regular soldier was sent on several missions overseas, her calm demeanor a boon on the frontlines, both to her and the other soldiers who always looked to her as a rock of stability while they and everyone else were panicking. She managed to gain the interest those looking for well-trained soldiers and ended up on the Division as a Designated Marksmen, the same role she always excelled at. Inventory: A decently-sized military rucksack containing rations for a week, batteries, a flashlight, and other generic military tools, such as a knife. A weapon cleaning kit. 2 Fragmentation grenades. 1 HE grenade. 2 Smoke grenades. 1 Signal Flare (the red smoke kind, not the flare gun kind) Unique Item:
These binoculars are able to be magnified several hundred times, allowing one to see several miles away with ease, utilizing a digital camera-style feedback that also stabilizes the view. Otherwise, all you'd see is a very jittery image. Unfortunately it doesn't have any thermal or nightvision components to it, but it does have a compass and rangefinder, making it invaluable for long-range shooting.
Weapons: -M110 SASS (Semi-Automatic Sniper System, a 7.62×51mm NATO rifle. 20-round magazine.) -8 extra magazines. -MP7 (A small, compact HK 4.6×30mm SMG. 20-round magazine.) -6 extra magazines. Talents: Red's an absolute crackshot with her rifle, able to hit a target a quarter-mile away with about 90% accuracy; she is also extremely cool under fire, to the point where she people tend to vastly underestimate a problem she might be in simply because she sounds so relaxed. An example would be one time where she sent a message to her squadmates via radio that she was under "mild supression" and when they got there they found her hiding behind the ruins of a house's wall with a .50 cal machine gunner shooting more bullets into it than should be necessary for one person. Unfortunately, her reaction time isn't great. Her calm attitude makes her odd in conversations, since there's almost always a small delay before she starts speaking, since she thinks through almost everything she says and does carefully. This means that if she has the advantage in a firefight, or has enough time to gather her thoughts, she's deadly, but if caught off-guard she has a tendency to either freeze up or dive for the nearest cover, hoping she can hide behind it long enough to just think. She is also rather poor in hand-to-hand combat because of this as well, but that's why she has her MP7. In an actual fist-fight, she tends to behave about as well as someone that only vaguely understands military CQC discipline and tends to horribly botch it, unless the other fighter is as equally unskilled. Addition Information: For some ungodly reason, she actually likes the taste of the military-provided MRE's, despite them being universally considered terrible.
