Name: Wayne Travers Age: 30 Appearance: Take the hair and beard of Joel from The Last of Us, make him rough and tougher-looking like Trevor from Grand Theft Auto 5, and give him a black Slayer t-shirt, a biege fishing vest, khaki cargo shorts, and a pair of hiking boots w/ wool socks, and then you've got Wayne. He tends to squint his eyes, which can either make him look like he's a Clint Eastwood cowboy gunslinger, or completely confused. When he's angry or manic, his eyes flare wide open, and regardless of whether he put up a smile or frown in this mood, you know that shit's gonna go down. Wayne stands at 6'0 and weighs about 196 pounds. Gender: Male Family: Wayne has been completely estranged from his family since he was 13. Dad killed himself, mom's dead now too, his older sister Diana is (or was) a Beverly Hills socialite, and God knows what's happened to his little brother Kent since Wayne ended up institutionalized and Kent ended up taken by social services when dad killed himself. Personality: He's normally quiet and docile, but that's often interrupted by his destructive meltdowns and poor impulse control. Drugs and alcohol don't really help this matter. With other people, he can be obnoxious, immature, rude, sarcastic, insensitive, offensive, raunchy, and he doesn't pick up on social cues very well. Unfortunately, Wayne's social awkwardness is also another complicating factor that makes Wayne have his violent outbursts. He doesn't like it when people try to discipline or punish him. More than often, it seems that he's got a hair-trigger temper with people. But even though most people piss him off, he doesn't like seeing children or animals get hurt. And once he does get to know somebody, he can be loyal, but so far that's yet to be seen. On the outside, he's either a smelly drunken tramp that would make Forrest Gump look like a Hollywood socialite, or a violent psychopath that you want to run as far away from as possible, but peel off the outer layers and you'll see a sad and angry little boy who never got the chance to grow up, and he really can't help but see things as him vs. everyone else because of his shitty upbringing. Although he identifies as Catholic, he maintains a nihilistic and pessimistic attitude because he believes he's going to end up going to Hell no matter what he does, and any attempt to make it different is futile. So it ultimately wouldn't matter to him what he does, no matter how depraved and sadistic and self-destructive it may be. And whatever you do, do not call him a retard. Bio: Wayne was born up in Northern Alberta into an unsteady marriage that broke up when he was only 2 years old. After his parents divorced, he and his newborn baby brother Kent ended up living with their dad, who was a lazy drunk. In kindergarten, it was apparent that Wayne was different from all the other kids, and he made no friends, or even tried to make any. Meanwhile, Kent turned out to be mentally retarded, and dad ended up becoming an abusive asshole as the stress of having one son a social outcast, and the other one cognitively impaired caused him to dive deeper into the pit of alcohol abuse. In elementary, kids started picking on Wayne, and it wasn't long before Wayne started having his violent outbursts. Kid threw rocks at him, and he threw rocks back. Kids tried to beat the shit out of him, and he tried to beat the shit out of them too. Eventually the kids smart enough to not pick on Wayne avoided him like the plague, and the teachers started adding to his trauma too. They'd try to punish him for his outbursts, and classrooms and the office would look like a hurricane swept through them before the teachers had enough and they let Wayne go. Lots of moving and occasional visits to see mom and Diana and other things happened in Wayne's life, and so was the trauma and abuse. And it all culminated into Wayne burning down a school when he was 13. Nobody was harmed, but this caused Wayne's dad to kill himself. 12 Gauge buckshot applied directly to the face. Social services came around and picked up Kent to take him to a foster home, while Wayne attempted to run away, only to get caught by the police and sent to an institution near Edmonton. The next 4 years were full of torment for Wayne as he was among killers, rapists, and other rejects of society as the only kid in that institution. When Wayne was 17, he finally made a successful escape attempt. He killed 3 security guards to escape the institution, and he fled into the wilderness heading south, with no more than the knowledge of direction, maps, and geography he retained, and the drive to head south to his uncle in Montana. Months went by as Wayne trekked through the wilderness, avoiding people as much as he could and living off the land. Mistakes were made, and Wayne nearly died on this journey more than once, but he survived. He crossed the Canada-US border without much of a struggle, and was able to make it to his uncle, who got him cleaned up and a US citizenship before throwing him out into the military. Wayne joined the USMC, and oddly enough, military life was enough to discipline him a bit. He still didn't make any friends in the Corps, and he was always doing something to keep himself busy. He went on tour to train in Australia before being shipped off to Afghanistan in 2009, where he suffered head trauma from shrapnel in an IED explosion and was left in a coma for the next 2 weeks. Wayne was taken back to the United States for medical treatment, and once he woke up, it turned out that the trauma he suffered to the frontal lobe of his brain made him unstable. All the discipline he had from being in the military was gone now. Wayne was discharged from the military shortly after he woke from his coma, and spent the last 5 years homeless and struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. He had just gotten his first home, a shitty little dump of a trailer house, just before the outbreak started. Now he's back to living off the land, just as he did when he escaped from the institution back in Alberta. Job: Unemployed Disability/Fear: Drug and alcohol abuse. He's also mildly autistic on top of his mental health issues, so he's not exactly a social champion. He's also scared of snakes, eels, starfish, and anything else that slithers or can climb on glass. He's also a misanthrope, that's for sure. Weapon: He's currently got a hatchet with him, but he's got a stash back at his camp site in the Santa Ana Mountains.
