It is the year 3013. Although major technological advancements have been at a standstill for nearly 200 years, those two centuries have also been met with relative peace in all of the known universe. 233 years ago, The Borg Collective was destroyed by an alliance of The United Federation of Planets, The Klingon Empire, and The Cardassian Union. This was seen as a major turning point in universal history -- The one enemy who could not be bargained with, who could not see reason, and who only wanted absolute conquest of the galaxy had been completely wiped out. The war lasted only five years, and was known as "The Great Quelling", in reference to the overwhelming allied victory. Although more than three million allied troops were lost, The Borg Collective in its entirety, just over sixty billion, was outright erased. Thirty years after that, The Dominion faced the same fate, while Klingons and Cardassians joined The United Federation of Planets, which has become the universe's sole superpower. With the warlike Klingons brought to relative pacification, and the once ruthless Cardassian people holding several peace awards within The Federation, large-scale war has become a thing of the past. The universe has halted technological advancements in favor of broadening diplomatic efforts that span across star systems, which has created a peace that has centuries. Three years ago, this peace was challenged. The Chirith, a warrior race inhabiting a small portion of the Alpha Quadrant, slowly began expanding their borders. Threatened by the Chirith expansion, neighboring empires followed suit and expanded their reach as well, sparking a quadrant-wide race to expand as much as possible. With tensions already rising, the involved nations began to practically look for reasons to break the centuries long intergalactic peace pact. They would find it shortly. When it was discovered that the destruction of The Saxton, a Parleni Cargo ship that had crashed met its end by sabotage, The Parleni blamed The Chirith. This was seen as an act of war, and so The Chirith announced that they were prepared to invade The Parleni. Amidst the chaos of threats and responses back and forth, The Federation's ability to maintain peace in the galaxy was questioned, and it seemed like The Federation's dream of uniting the galaxies would be only a dream. For the first time during the centuries long peace, the idea of all races living together, looking past their own differences, was brought into question. Although The Federation was able to have The Parleni and Chirith meet with ambassadors, the damage had already been done, the idea that an intergalactic peace being held was questioned, and more and more began to follow suit. The Federation's answer to these rising questions were simple -- The USS Tyson. It would be their most state-of-the-art starship to date, and it would feature the most diverse crew in The Federation's history. Apart from humans, which made up a vast portion of The Federation, The USS Tyson would have no more than two members of any race in their ranks. Officers were scouted from remote planets, frequently from formerly-rivaled nations. The cooperation and comradery displayed between these crewmen were frequently showcased at council meetings, and The USS Tyson was proved to be a success. With tensions lowered, there was only one remaining job for The USS Tyson. To boldly go where no man has gone before.

CAPTAIN Responsibilities: The Captain is responsible for execution of Starfleet orders and policy, as well as for interpretation and compliance with Federation law and diplomatic directives.
