PM'd you back, Kaith. Casterly's approved, though mehbeh come up with a cool name for the Semblance. :P Here's a teacher, he's pretty cool. Name: Dustin Parker Nickname: Dusty Race: Faunus, Tiger Gender: Male Age: 24 Weapons/Equipment/Armor: “Lightning Chasers,” Gauntlets with four claws that are segmented and conform along the wrist when not in use, but extend to a 8 inches when locked and combat ready. He also has retractable claws at the end of each finger he can use. Either set of claws is very strong, and can claw through stone with little difficulty when enough force is applied. They have Yellow Dust tanks that can channel electricity through the claws, and using the extending claws, Dusty can launch a mid-range electric burst. If he can get in close to an enemy, he can give the target an electric charge that will attract electric attacks, causing them (if they have the proper opposite charge) to home in on them, making it easier to shoot longer range attacks without the electricity dissipating. Though the tanks can be used with different Dust Types, Dusty can only use Yellow/Electric Dust. In extreme cases, he can power the claws with the Dust energy from his own body, as his Aura is similar enough to Dust Energy to be used, but that can be a dangerous drain on his energy if he's not careful. Semblance: Electric Field Control. Dust has a piece of Yellow Dust embedded in his body, very close to his Aura Center. His Aura keeps the crystal charged, and the Dust affects his Aura. It reacts badly when other types of Dust come into contact with him, but it allows him to have complete control over his own electrical field. Electricity doesn’t affect him like normal, he can channel it through him harmlessly, and the field also helps his Aura keep him from getting hurt from physical attacks when he uses it, as his Aura is more easily manipulated along it. He can also use electricity offensively, attacking with bolts and sparks, though his energy can get drained easily of he attacks over a greater distance. He can also do some smaller tricks, such as magnetizing objects to each other or manipulating metal objects, though he mainly uses his weapons and electric bolts to fight with rather than these. He can use his Semblance more efficiently with his weapons, though he's capable of attacking at short range without them. Hobbies: Dusty is a smoker, he has a silver cigarette case that’s the only thing he has of his mother. While he’s a very good teacher, he doesn’t like paperwork, and often tries to get out of it. He enjoys watching sports, and despite his smoking, is an avid jogger. Has a set of keys with a pigeon keychain that says “Coo.” He jangles them when he’s bored, which is very annoying along with the keychain’s noise, so he’s often told to put away his “Coo Keys.” Bio:
Dustin and his mother lived on the streets. His mother was able to hide being a Faunus from her lover quite well, despite them conceiving a child, but she was unable to hide Dustin’s “condition,” as his father put it. She thought that once they had a child, the man would have to stay with them and support them. She was wrong. Dustin eventually grew up in White Fang when his mother died, she wouldn’t accept help from the group and became sick. With no way to get her proper help, Dustin had to watch his mother die in front of him. He thought joining White Fang would help him make sure that no other Faunus would suffer the same fate. While he met some very good people in the group, Dustin was used mainly for his fighting skills (Living on the streets made him sly and scrappy). He was sent on a mission to infiltrate a Dust processing plant. He thought it was maybe to steal some documents, but he was told he’d receive more instructions via an earpiece once he’d gotten inside. He was said to upload a program from a drive into the main computers, then to make his way to the main offices. However, once he got there, he was told to kill the head of the plant. When he refused, they told him that he would likely die anyways, as the plant was set to explode from what he uploaded, but they needed to be sure. Dustin set out, trying to evacuate the plant, but couldn’t do so before it exploded. Luckily, no one died in the blast. Unluckily, Dustin was pierced with a large Dust Crystal, near the base of his lungs. If it had been removed quickly, it wouldn’t have affected him, but the company that owned the plant didn’t feel the need to pay for his medical needs after he uploaded the virus that destroyed their plant, though they didn’t press charges as he did rescue everyone. Dustin’s wound healed irregularly, and oddly enough, bonded with him, merging with his own Aura. Dustin was 15 at the time, and despite his condition, tried to make a living on his own. Working as a sign spinner for a restaurant, Dustin saw a Dust shop being robbed, and dispatched the would-be robbers with skillful use of his cardboard sheet. Luckily enough, a teacher at Beacon saw this, and complimented him on his fighting skills. He said Dustin should try out and become a Hunstman, and gave him a letter of recommendation so Dustin’s shady past would be less of a problem. Despite his initial difficulties stemming from his past, Dustin proved to be quite capable, using his unique condition with the piece of Yellow Dust inside him to his advantage. At Beacon, he learned more about how to control his Aura, and found a proper family with new friends there. He decided that his first dream of making sure no kid would have to go through what he went through would be better done as a teacher, as a teacher was the one who suggested he become a Huntsman. So once he graduated, he returned and applied to join the faculty at Beacon. Though he’s unconventional, he’s shown to be very bright and helpful towards new students, especially Fauna who have difficulty fitting in.
Personality: A little lazy, and somewhat easily distracted, but he means well. He usually knows what’s best, but can be a bit hypocritical at times. But one time he will act is when people are bullied or being used, he could never sit idly by if he learns of it happening. Though he dislikes doing work and is used to questioning authority, when push comes to shove, he respects the Headmaster at Beacon over almost any other. This can annoy some of the teachers, but for the most part, Dustin’s antics usually amount to playful ribbing or pranks. Appearance: (Still gonna try and find a picture for this one) Gray hair, blue eyes, usually a gray shirt. Black and gray wolf ears, and he usually has a cigarette in his mouth. Post Sample:
Dustin sat in his chair, lit cigarette resting in his fingers and burning down as he was lost in thought. He’d assisted in classes before, but he usually had a safety net of another teacher there to help him set up his curriculum and run each class. True, he’d been fine and barely needed help the past years, but this year, he was on his own. At the Siege of Beacon Tower, Dustin had proved himself in defending the school, and so this was to be a reward for his bravery. But, ironically, the prospect of teaching by himself scared him to death. He nodded out of his thought, placing the cigarette between his lips and taking a long drag. He sighed, clouds of smoke drifting from his nostrils, as he grabbed a few metal pens and rose from his seat. He walked to the window of his office, looking out on the grounds while sparks danced from his fingers. The metal pens started floating around his hand, as he mused about the oncoming year. Regular electronics freaked out when in close proximity to him, but he was having a special system made to be controlled by his electric field, he had some ideas for his class and hoped to use a holoprojector in it. They weren’t really used by the other teachers, but Dustin was anything but traditional. It was still a few days till the start of the semester, and the system wasn’t completed yet. He set the pens down, trying to take his mind off his curriculum, and leaned against the window, resting his forehead on the glass. It was raining, but the reports said it would be clear in a few days, just in time for the first day of school. He took out his cigarette, crushing it in a nearby ashtray, before staring at the gray clouds. He took a breath, and whispered, “Wait for it…” Right after, lightning struck, and a few seconds later thunder rumbled. He paused, before whispering once more, “Wait for it…” as lighting once against struck and illuminated his office for a short time, thunder once again rumbling a few seconds after. He took a breath, holding it before sighing, and for the last time whispering, “Wait…for…it…” as a huge bolt of lighting struck the nearby mountain, and thunder groaned over the mountainside and caused the windows to shake slightly. Dustin walked away. The storm would pass, eventually, and things would clear up. He liked the rain, lighting, and thunder, but he hoped that his worries would pass along with the storm. He just had to remind himself that he was ready, and so long as he put in his all, things would be fine. He leaned back in his chair, propping his feet up on his desk, as he placed a fresh cig in his mouth. He lit it with a few sparks from his fingers, taking a long drag and blowing smoke rings in the air, humming quietly to himself.
