Who determines what a loose mental grip on reality is though? I agree that those are issues and they shouldn't own a deadly weapon, however what about those who have been through severe mental illness but through counseling/medication are over it...because of their past history the Government denies them certain rights. "You cannot own a gun because when you were 14 you were suicidal" can quickly become "You cannot vote because your mental history does not allow you the ability to do so rationally."
