Some sort of retro-future where the world culturally got stuck in the 1980s, kinda like with the pre-2077 Fallout world and the 1950s. Brick-sized cell-phones alongside advanced robots and energy weapons, and cyberpunk metropolises overtowering massive slums. Something of an exaggeration of the 1980s while also having a tinge of logical speculation in there somewhere, with the Cold War between the USA and USSR still ongoing, and with China and Japan entering the big geopolitical scene as well.

If not that, try a semi-reversed WWII where Russia ended up becoming an extreme-right racist dictatorship hellbent on conquest like Nazi Germany, and Germany ended up becoming an industrial giant and the prime communist power in the world like the Soviet Union. Also make China what Japan was like in our history, and vice versa for Japan being this alternate history's China. You could also take this a step further and make this an alternate cold war, with Communist Germany or Nazi Russia.
