Basically, a domain name like roleplayerguild.com just points to an IP address like 198.58.124.212:3000. It would be wasteful to have to look up the IP address that roleplayerguild.com points to every single time you type it in, so your internet service provider stores that info for you. It only updates the info once every 1-7 days or so. Since I just pointed roleplayerguild.com to a new IP address today, that's why some people see the new site and some people see the old site. And it's why visiting [url=http://198.58.124.212:3000] circumvents that whole issue -- because you're going right to the server. Hopefully that explains a few things.
