I think this is pretty much it for this guy, though we'll see and I'll be sure to re-submit or let you know if I missed something important. [hider=The Archivist] Names: Previously Anak’Saruah Currently ‘The Archivist’ or ‘Archivist’ Age: 429 Gender: Assumed male Race: Akarid Height: 7ft Weight: 140kg Eye Colour: Completely black Skin colour: Blackish-purple, covered in course black hairs. Character Tier: Intermediate (NoW currently is an Intermediate tourney) Character Type: Critical Character- Tournament Participant Physical Description: To the average human on Earth, The Archivist looks like a particularly nasty spider with a male’s upper torso and bald (save for the short hairs all over his body) head and twice the normal number of arms, gruesome though it may be. It resembles the mythological appearance of a centaur, provided instead of a majestic horse a spider was welded onto the man’s hips. There is no particularly need for clothing on such a creature, but the Archivist does wear an electronic data pad on his upper right wrist about as large as the average bracer. The Archivist’s face is a gross resemblance of human, with pointed ears and a snub nose with two sharp teeth protruding down like fangs from a cavernous mouth. He has four completely black eyes arranged symmetrically with the upper eyes slightly off centre and further away from its twin than the bottom. He can speak in a rasping tone, smell and hear about as well as the average human. Unsurprisingly he moves like a spider, scuttling around on eight powerful but flexible legs. He can also squeeze into surprisingly small gaps, provided his torso can fit. Personality Description: The Archivist is as cool and calculating as one gets, and his only real goal is the acquisition of greater knowledge for the Archive, of which he is the current master. Incredibly difficult to anger or trick with either word or magic, the Archivist’s only major personality flaw is an inbuilt curiosity that will cause it to prolong an opponent’s life just to complete a data entry. Despite the ease at which it could ambush and eliminate a foe the Archivist will instead allow it to launch most of its attacks to satisfy this curiosity. Incredibly intelligent, if pushed to the limit mercy should not be expected from the Archivist, it is after all ultimately a self-serving creature. Skills, powers and abilities: The Archivist’s Race are far spread across the galaxy, and born with an immense intelligence and the ability to replicate a wide range of abilities. However, the one thing beyond them is magic, of which their species have no talent. To make up for this crippling disability the Archivist is well schooled in a number of fighting styles, coupled with a great many physical traits and a cruel cunning he can still hold his own. The Archivist is stronger than any human man, and can easily pick up and throw an individual with one arm. With all four it’s more than capable of lifting the average sized car and throwing it around ten feet. Though it’s difficult to be overly agile when you have the body of a giant spider, the Archivist still manages to move with more grace than the average dancer. He can move his limbs fast enough to avoid some of the quick blows of a karate master for example, and his own attacks are launched with even greater speed. His perception is incredibly impressive, boosted somewhat by the sensitivity of the hairs on his body, he can easily hit any target from up to fifty feet away with a projectile such as a rock and see in near complete blackness, and can judge momentum and even air-speed/outside conditions if necessary to more accurately hit a foe. Though the usefulness of this perception is not incredibly high, as the Archivist doesn’t actually have any ranged weapons with him save for his web. The Archivist has a human head (sort of.) and can hear and smell normally. His max speed however is more impressive due to his great many legs. He can run at no less than 75mph with a brief run-up, though he prefers a more leisurely and sustainable forty to fifty when attacking his foes. Like a spider he can climb on near any surface, even upside down on a ceiling, though he can only move at a cool 20mph when doing this. His hands are adorned with razor-sharp two inch claws which can cut grooves in metal with ease. He secretes a dangerous form of poison from these which grows more poignant the more wounds suffered. In a robust individual the poison causes a mild-unsteadiness for a minute, another application begins to effect joints with mild atrophy reducing a foes ability to move. A third application in the minute time period usually spells doom for a foe with crippling nausea and wide spread paralysis, though these effects rarely last longer than thirty seconds. The final stage is a rapid death or full blown paralysis for a minute, depending on constitution. Interestingly, the Archivists Venom acts as counter-venom for most other forms of poison, granting him greater resistance to such effects (but by no means immunity.) The Archivist can quickly spin a web like the Gladiator spider using his lower arms. His web is about as tough as hardened leather if created quickly or on the move, however with additional time (one-two charges) he can create a web as tough as iron and steel respectively. The stickiness of the web increases proportionally, with something like the damn stickiest glue or something as the upper levels. (I have no idea how to describe this, just be reasonably stuck.) He can either place the web like an ordinary spider or like the Gladiator spider launch it like a spear to ensnare foes. Not unlike a spider, The Archivist is incredibly robust and resistant to a wide range of attacks. Bullets in particular are ineffective unless aimed at vital areas such as his face or the joints of his legs, due to a thick carapace (his skin) and course hairs in most regions of his body. Stabbing him with incredibly fine quality steel is usually the best option for his would-be murderers, although bludgeoning the right areas could also have some effect. Fire is the most effective element against him, with electricity being somewhat negated by his body and ice taking a long time to affect him due to his size. As a side note his blood is a greenish colour. As for his healing factor, he regenerates from wounds at roughly thrice the speed of a human, however his data pad can provide him with one regenerative stim which briefly triples this healing factor. His most impressive resistance however is to poisonous gas, the Akarid have ridiculously effective and adaptive respiratory systems, and hence why they can exist on a huge range of planets across the galaxy without any problems. They are most effective when subjected to an oxygen rich atmosphere, but can survive in a huge range of locales and can hold their ‘breath’ for up to an hour if necessary. The Archivist’s greatest power however is knowledge, he has a vast memory and can analyse a foes movements. The Data Pad at his arm also provides him with the accumulated knowledge of his entire race, and provided a foe race is common or they themselves are notable enough it is incredibly likely he will have data on it. (This is up to the discretion of either Skallagrim or my opponent, as to how much I can know before-hand of an individual opponent.) On top of this is of course his Data-Pad’s other abilities, which I’ll explain in more detail in equipment. Character Equipment: Data Pad (Tier 5.) Should be self-explanatory, but basically these Data Pads are created in the Archive. The Data pad is a rudimentary archival device, incredibly high-tech and impressive to the mortal man but primitive due to its size in the Archivist’s eyes. It looks like a somewhat bulky black rectangular bracer. When manipulated by the Archivist the screen lights up and allows him to access data, either by scanning a subject from afar or by entering a descriptor. The data it accesses resides within the great Archive, which holds the information gathered by his entire race over their entire history. (It’s a lot.) The Data Pad can also offer him one Stamina, one Regenerative, and one Adrenaline stim, which provides him with a boost of energy, healing and quicker movements respectively. The Data Pad allows for a rudimentary cloaking, making him harder to see especially in shadows for a total of roughly thirty seconds before it needs to recharge from a serious power source. (Can’t be recharged in battle, leaves the Data Pad with only basic function of Data access.) The Data Pad can scan an arena periodically (every twenty seconds roughly) like Sonar, giving the Archivist a decent notion of where a foe resides and what sort of place he is fighting in. Technology and Magic negating abilities/spells/regions can distort but not wholly disable this function. (Due to Sonar being just so goddamn effective.) However, the sonar esque effect does come with its own limitations, namely a hollow ring in a normal foes ears which is both uncomfortable but also telling of the Archivists own rough location. The Archivist can disable this feature at will, but as he is not all that fond of ambushes he usually allows his foes the questionable pleasure of feeling his approach. Character History: The Archivist inherited his position when the previous Archivist died collecting knowledge in an incredibly dangerous situation. Before that he did as most of his –brothers- did, scuttling about the galaxy collecting minor bits of data from inconsequential conflicts. It is the role of the Archivist to seek the rarest and delicious knowledge, hence why he joined the tournament with the intention of filling the Data banks with knowledge of the Dreamer race of which no data yet exists.
