I believe with hiders, you can't start a new line immediately after starting the hider code. You have to continue the code immediately after. For example;

[quote][hider=a thing]
more things[/quote]

^ Not ok.

[quote][hider=a thing]more things[/quote]

^ Ok.

I know it's stupid coding, but I hope that clears things up for you.
