Can I ask, what negative feelings in the first place you are talking about? I came to realize that I don't remember a point where the two went to war out of hate. The invaison of Korea seemed to be out of ambition. Also, if the two did really dislike each other, then how come toyo rentai ron was seriously considered by the Japanese bakufu with numerous statesmen and intellectuals supporting an alliance between Japan and China due to the encroaching West and especially the Russians attempting to exert influence. I don't understand how you can claim that the two had a horrible relationship at this point and that the alliance is unrealistic. Wouldn't it make sense to team up with someone to deal with the greatest threat to you (Russia in this case)? I mean using your logic. Shouldn't the Japanese and the US hate each other still after WW II? Of course, that's not the case. Times change and so do priorities. It's just that in this RP, Japan has changed its priority in a fairly realistic manner based in what I know about the political atmosphere in Japan during this time.
