Aria stood up from her seat deciding to go ahead and start heading home, as annoying as the walk was going to be lingering in New Naveria wasn’t much better. The sooner she got home the sooner she could relax as well, payday was today and by some miracle she had the day off tomorrow so she was going to enjoy tonight, ordering out wasn’t a bad idea actually. A chill ran up Aria’s spine as she started to leave and she stopped and looked around, she wasn’t sure where that came from but she didn’t want to linger to find out, it already felt like she was being watched. However as she started to walk away she froze as the entire area went silent, not the conversations but the blaring advertisements going on all around them, the TV’s, radios, everything electronic just shut off and people noticed. Aria looked at the television store and noticed that the screens had gone completely red, turning her attention to the large TV on the skyscraper she noticed it had gone red as well. After a moment of silence the black silhouette of a man walked onto the screen, looking over to the television store he showed up on all of them too. “Hello everyone!” Aria’s attention shot back towards the large TV as the silhouette spoke holding up a hand, his voice didn’t seem like it was just coming from the TV, she could hear it from all around her. The man’s voice was being broadcast throughout the city, through what she wasn’t sure but it was extremely loud and hard to miss the light tone of voice his person had, she could almost hear his happiness through voice alone. “It’s so nice to meet you,” the man continued giving a two finger salute. “I’ve wanted to speak to you all for what seems like ages, my name is….uh….oh man I forgot my evil alias hold on a second.” The man knelt down and started digging through stuff off the screen, Aria could hear the clatter and clank of things as he tossed them aside, confusion was the closest thing Aria could identify in the mixture of emotions flowing through her as she watched the screen. The man stood up holding what seemed to be a notebook and flipping through it. “Damn it’s not in here either, ah I can’t remember it,” he said shrugging and tossing the notebook over his shoulder. “It was a really good one too; just call me Mr. Descent then that works.” Aria felt an immense hatred for this man already but she continued to watch unable to deny that her chest felt heavy, something about this whole thing wasn’t good and what few police were around were dumbstruck as they watched the screen some trying to talk on their radios with little luck. Aria couldn’t see Mr. Descent face but for some reason she could see a toothy grin showing his pearly whites formed on his shadowed face as he spoke. “I’m sure you all realize I’ve taken over your electronics, I’ve hijacked your airwaves and taken over your TV’s, radios, internet all of it! So if you were watching a romantic comedy or having some ‘personal time’ I’m afraid you’ll have to look at my handsome mug for a second. I’m sure if you check your phones, tablets and all that I’m on there too.” Aria looked over at a woman who pulled out her phone, just as he said Mr. Descent’s face was on her screen behind the same red background, she could even hear him through the phone. The woman tried to dial a number but the phone didn’t seem to be responding. “Anyway I’ve gone through so much trouble to take over your media and your government is trying really hard to get it back so let me go ahead and give you the message I had for you.” Mr. Descent cleared his throat for a moment before wagging a finger at the screen. “All of you are boring.” Aria eyes narrowed at the screen as he delivered his message, she could hear murmurs from the crowd and the people inside their stores and probably their homes looked at each other in slight confusion. “I mean it all of you are boring, I’ve watched you guys daily and it’s hurts to see, your lives are so mundane, repetitious, unappealing. I mean come on you guys can’t be happy with all of this, The lower class scraping by from paycheck to paycheck, watching their rich boss drive up in one of his three mustangs while they have a raggedy old car they still have payments on, the middle class just trying to stay afloat and not sink into poverty, never truly able to reach the height of the rich, and the high class having to deal with all the lower class angry cause they don’t got the stacks, you earned your money why can’t you enjoy it without being hated? This is a generalization of course but our society is divided into classes and everyone has just…accepted it! Isn’t that just awful! Look let me just ask you a question, and take a moment to think about it when I ask, I’ll even wait.” Mr. Descent stopped for a moment taking a few deep breaths and Aria was a little worried at what he was going to say next with everything he was going on about. “Haven’t you ever considered your life more important thing someone else’s? It’s a simple question nothing to extreme, haven’t you ever thought ‘I deserve that’ or ‘I hope that person has a bad day’ or on some occasions ‘I hope they die’. We’ve all thought that at least once someone cut you in line, their kid keeps crying next to you, hundreds of things could have happened, really just take a second to consider it, I’ll wait.” Aria stared at the screen dumbfounded at Mr. Descents words, going off the voices around her other people were just as confused. She didn’t want too but if she thought about it he wasn’t completely wrong the thought has crossed her mind, but it wasn’t something she would openly admit and generally it was in passing most of the time, the lives of others didn’t concern hers she had enough in her own. She could see others were actually thinking about the answer to Mr. Descent’s question, but no one openly said anything, though she wasn’t sure if he could even hear them. “I can hear you by the way, side note,” Mr. Descent said pulling out a small book and opening it. “So you can shout your answer if you want, go ahead I’ll wait a sec for you.”
