Upkeep. Upkeep eats all your money. Especially the initial purchase. I have found with 20k people, I get 45k+ food. So then I'm left over with 25k+ food, take Soldiers of 4k, times that by 4.... 16k-25k=9k. You times your Food by a higher number than your Bullis. From start, you can easily become rich with food. Just keep up with your taxes. Bullis is a pain to get started with. And later on, if you try to get more troops, remember your Upkeep has dwindled your yearly pay to almost nothing, so you can't just buy another army instantly, you have to wait and let it pile up. Where as food is also dwindled, it doesn't take as long, not at all.
