If you'll allow me, perhaps I could give you a sample of the Barrier Powers I think would be "Acceptable", and you can try to change it how you see fit?

Now this allows Serenity to still have the basic idea of her force field powers (To protect people) with some limitations that still allow it to be useful. She needs to concentrate to use it, so no spontaneous barriers unless she's expecting it. Only works within a certain area of herself or within her eyesight, so now while she can still put barriers on her teammate, if they stray too far from her or out of her sight they lose that protection. This also means she can't explode people from the inside, since she can't see inside of people. Lastly, now she has a certain limitation on how long her force field can hold; say someone is shooting at her with a hundred bullets. If she doesn't put up a force field, she get ventilated with a hundred bullets. But with a force field up, instead of getting shot by a hundred bullets, she just gets a hundred cuts. Still painful, but better than being shoot into Swiss Cheese. But if Serenity doesn't do something else eventually she'll get too strained by all the cuts and she'll end up dead, with by a hundred bullets or a thousand cuts.

This still leaves some room for Serenity to be creative and, ultimately. stronger than before. Ajah just needs to find a reason why Serenity would want to be stronger.
