Daniel watched and listened as Alex asked about how he did what he did, providing a small demonstration of her own as she worked what magic she had on a piece of garbage. He chuckled and grinned a little at her comment, an apt representation at that, before cracking his knuckles, waving his arms a bit, and settling in. "Well, it's all in the wrists," he said with a snap, another flame jumping to his finger before he snapped again, dismissing it. "Nah, I'm kidding," he added quickly after. He settled down a bit, gaining an authoritative aura that drew her attention, like when he was performing, pulling her eyes and making sure she focused on him and him only, only what he wanted her to see. Not that he was trying to hide anything, like some quick trick, but it was a useful tool nonetheless. Daniel launched into his explanation then, working the best way to explain. "So, 'magic', what is 'magic'? As far as I can guess, it's something to do with energy. I'm not sure why we suddenly have these abilities, but I think it hinges on energy inside you. That's why you get tired if you use too much magic." He did the flame trick again. "So, you imagine the energy inside you, like a pool or reserve or whatever helps you visualize it. Then focus on it, and push it out into a form that your mind desires." With that, the fire spread to his entire hand and shifted colors, from red to blue to purle to white, all twisting and dancing before he doused the flame. "Am I making sense?"
