Lexi followed Peter in silence, her worry filling her as her mind ran rampant on everything that she had encountered while under the gas attack. Things she had seen scared her but she knew that’s what Peter was fighting to prevent; and that was something she had to start fighting to prevent as well. She couldn’t let that happen, not to her city, not to her family and sure as hell not to Peter. He was nice enough to carry her which helped her get through the emotions she was feeling. Clinging to his back made her feel like she was holding onto him for dear life. She didn’t want to let him go; not now, not ever. When they landed on her roof she pulled off her mask only to lay her head against his chest and listen to his heartbeat. He was alive, not dead inside of his own cocoon. A long and very shaky sigh left her full lips as she blinked a few times, tears cascading down her face as she remembered holding Peter’s lifeless body in her lap. “I can’t… I can’t let that happen to you…” She said softly, obviously distort about what she saw in her hallucination, “I won’t. I still want to fight to protect the city… and you.” How ironic? Her father asked him to protect her and now she’s saying that she wants to be the one to protect him.
