"I know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alley.... And that parking lot.... And behind that diner." The frail and weak Steve Rogers said, pointing through the taxi cab window. "Did you have something against running away?" The british accent asked, her eyes examining the young soon-to-be hero "You start running they'll never let you stop. You stand up, push back. Can't say no forever, right?" Steve asked, looking over at her then immediately looking down at his feet. "I know a little of what that's like. To have every door shut in your face." Agent Peggy Carter said softly. "I guess I just don't why you'd wanna join the army if you're a beautiful dame. Or a beautiful...a woman. An agent, not a dame! You are beautiful, but..." Steve was helpless, but thankfully he was cut off by the beautiful woman. "You have no idea how to talk to a woman, do you?" Her eyes showed a little bit of interest. "This is the longers conversation I've had with one. Women aren't exactly lining up to dance with a guy they might step on." Steve shrugged, looking back out the window "You must have danced?" "Well, asking a woman to dance always seems so terrifying. And the past few year just didn't seem to matter that much. Figured I'd wait." "For what?" Steve Rogers looked back over at her. "The right partner." Steve woke up like he always did. In a cold sweat, usually thinking of the few seconds he had talking to Peggy. That was the last thing he remembered before waking up after all. He sat up in his quiet apartment, then started his morning with a lap around Manhattan. When he returned he took his shower, did his hair neatly, and did a lot of thinking about Sharon. She was perfect. How she talked, walked, laughed, went close to him... Steve had many priorities such as protecting the world, fighting bad guys, and what's good and what's wrong... girls weren't really his main priority because most of his life he was usually laughed at by them, and he wasn't a fan of dating a ton of people. He much preferred the "right partner." Then something vibrated. Steve was confused for a second before he realized that it was the cell phone Tony Stark gave him a few months ago. He didn't get much calls, but it was there if Fury or any other Avengers needed to get a hold of him. It was a text from Tony himself. "Banner's office. Emergency. NOW." That was all steve needed. He grabbed his iconic shield, and ran for the door. ------------------- Walking in to the S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ in New York was interesting. Everyone here recognized him, but either people were formal and treated him like a soldier with a small nod and sometimes a salute, and others would stop in their tracks, staring at the legend. Steve would give a smile, or nod in return, but he wasn't really in the talking mood. He charged in to the elevator. "Welcome, Rogers; Steve. Please say the level you want to go to." The female voice said. ------------------ Tony Stark walked in to Doctor Bruce Banner's lab. "Hey, big guy." Stark said. "And hello Miss Carter." He called out, noticing her in the window. Tony wore a tight athletic shirt, his blue arc reactor shining through the shirt. He also wore black cargo pants, and some comfortable running shoes. His hair was messy, but looked perfect, and his beard was trimmed in the fancy fashion it always was. He knew who Agent 13 really was, only because he hacked in to the part of S.H.I.E.L.D. (was it that much of a surprise? He was a tech genius." Sorry to interrupt you but... I need your help with something. Tony casually picked up a pointy thing, and gently poked Bruce. He flinched, and looked up at him. "Sorry. Couldn't resist." Tony smirked. "What do you need, my friend?" Bruce asked with a sigh, taking off his glasses, and looking over at him, his arms crossed. Both Tony and Bruce were geniuses, and got along rather well when tony wasn't trying to piss Bruce off to see the other side of him... "I need to use some of your work space to run a quick experiment on our golden soldier boy's blood... Don't ask. It'll be revealed later." Tony said before Bruce could ask why. "Wh-- fine, sure... just don't piss off the guy. He's a good man." "yeah yeah yeah... heard nothing but praise about him from my dad." Tony muttered, getting a shot and vial ready to collect Steve's blood." Steve burst in to the room. "I'm here! What's wrong? Is he alright?" Steve asked, his shield in his hand. "What? Oh, yes. We're all fine." Tony said as if he forgot what he texted Steve. "But... you text messaged me..." Steve began, but was stopped when he felt a needle go in to his arm. "It was an emergency. I needed a blood sample of a... 'perfect human' to run a few tests for something. No, i'm not turning in to a mass scientist." "hey, Steve." Doctor Banner said with a smile, and a look of apology. "Bruce. I didn't know you were here right now." Steve said, giving a glare at Tony. "Ah, I got in earlier yesterday. Had some things to work on, and I have Agent 13 helping me." Steve nodded, and gave another glare to Tony as he walked off with a vial full of his blood. "What's the great doctor working on this time?" "Oh, just sampling some of the alien tissue we collected from the Battle... It needs someone whose really calm and collected, and has a steady hand when testing them. She's doing excellent." Bruce explained. "Oh... I see. Well, if that's all you need me for, Stark--" Steve began, but was cut off "Oh, yeah. Nick Fury wants to see you. Said something about some files on a... ah... what's her name... Peg--" tony said while looking at the blood sample through a microscope "I'm on it." Steve cut him off, not wanting him to say her name, or to embarrass himself. "Well, Doctor Banner, and Agent 13, keep up the good work. I'll see you guys later." and with that, Captain America was off for Director Fury's office.
