Also, I got this from Hitchhiker's. In it, Arthur Dent finds out from Agrajag (someone that he is inadvertently killing in every reincarnation) that Arthur kills him in Stavromula Beta. Since he's never been there, by timeline causality he knows that he won't die until he goes there and so tries all sorts of crazy things, knowing that he won't die. But then he goes to Stavro Mueller's Beta and only realises at the end of the last book that that was Stavromula Beta and thus he dies when the Grebulons assimilate Earth.
