"Acknowledgement from the Andromeda," McKellen reported, moving to open up their channel with them. The main viewport filled with the digital video feed of the Andromeda's bridge. An aged man in a uniform of obvious naval design spoke up as Vice-Admiral Ryu Hijikata, and confirmed their desire for a partnership. The younger James Benead seemed to register a brief smile at the sight of the Admiral; the fashion was decidedly retro, more fitting for fancy dress back in the Space Corps, but it gave that image of a firm, wise commander. James wouldn't admit it, but he wished he could have the chance to be in that kind of uniform more often, rather than his plain, yet embellished jumpsuit. "Well met, Admiral. I am Captain James Benead of the UBFS Jotunheim," came Benead's response to Hijikata. "We are glad to hear you accept. I feel our cooperation will not be difficult, in regard to our similarities." There was a bit of a pause as he glanced about his bridge crew, all looking in expectation. "If you are not opposed to a tour, I'm sure we could each both benefit from seeing how the other incorporates their use of Wave Motion technology, as well as exchange any information we know about this location." That got a couple of mixed reactions from his crew, but James did not waver his vision towards the Admiral. Captain Benead was convinced that the Andromeda would not mean any harm, as long as they understood all the technologies and ideals they had in common. "Captain," McKellen piped up again, attracting Benead's attention. "We're getting a broadcast from a new ship. Playing:" "Attention unidentified vessels, this is the Battlestar Columbia. Identify yourselves immediately or we will be forced to take aggressive measures. Repeat, this is the Battlestar Columbia, Identify yourselves immediately or we will be forced to take aggressive measures." The message echoed throughout both bridges, the two captains listening intently. As soon as the playback ended, Benead spoke again, "Reply with our identification. Nothing more. Check in with Newark again regarding our weapons condition." McKellen nodded and got to work. Turning back to the viewport, Benead continued talking to Hijikata when the Admiral was done with his own orders, "I still stand by my offer, Admiral. I'm certain we can be good allies."
