I mean where you live is it common. All I usually do is smile and wave at people but its very common for people to try and start a conversation if we are standing in line or if we are looking at a similar product at the store. And like everyone waves at you like its super weird if you wave while driving and the other person doesn't. Like i have never seen someone not wave back before
