I planned from the begning not to have him live (his last name was a bit of sneaky foreshadowing on my part ;) ) I just wasn't sure when, it was all going to depend on when we had enough man power to substitute his death. I also realised that while I was focusing on him as a character I couldn't really develop Ash very much so I decided to kind of sacraficed one.
