Losing his wife early into his daughters life, Damon worked hard to raise his three sons and his daughter as best he could providing them with whatever he could. Growing up in Australia with three older brothers, Tristan learnt from a young age how to look after and defend herself. Hanging out with the guys helped her to grow into a beautiful, confident young lady. Wanting to do her best and help her family in anyway she could, Tris threw herself into her studies, raising her grades so that she could make her father proud. Managing to transfer into a great school, Tris and her family packed their bags saying goodbye to their family and friends before heading off for a great opportunity. That's when she found out about Mako island.

Getting put into a group at school for an assignment; her and three other classmates borrow a boat heading out to the island to gather data for their environmental report. Getting closer to the island they began having troubles; the boat dying causing the group to have to paddle out to the island and make their way onto the beach. While looking to try and get a signal so they could call for help they stumble upon an mysterious cavern hidden at the bottom of a dormant volcano; seeing no other way out the four girls get into the pool, changing their lives forever.
