Okay, um, slept a bit later then I wanted to but time to try and quickly explain a couple things before getting to the main stuff.

Familiars need two things to exist: They need to be acknowledged by their creator(though some manage to survive without this as long as they get appropriate attention) and they need a source of mana. The former allows them to exist in a world that it actively combating their existence, as they have essentially be forced into being against the laws of reality due to their nature. Losing their source of "belief" can sometimes cause familiars to instantly cease to exist. The mana sustains their bodies and allows them to heal and survive.

@samreaper: Okay, firstly you will need to to a revamp of your backstory. However, there is a much more fitting replacement for the organization you mention that is already a part of the setting, which I will get into when you get back to me on this. Though he probably should not be the best even if he is quite competent for his age.

Speaking of age, it might be a good idea to up it even just a little. Toshiko only has Jun around because of the circumstances, and only lets him go on non-violent cases if she can help it.

The function of his affinity should, again, be conducted through spells as opposed to just touching. He can mentalcast(reciting the spell in his head) if you want it to appear that way, though.
