These councils in turn elect members of the Greater Council, which presides over affairs of the entire nation. The Greater Council, however, has weakened power in contrast to all the Lesser Councils combined. The Greater Council is much like the executive branch of the U.S. government, and the Lesser Council is much like an amalgamation of the legislative and judiciary branches. Description: A nation on a volcanic archipelago that pioneers exotic magics and exports rare goods. Its southern half has a tropical climate, and its northern half has a continental climate. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Dorthan (~80%), Thantori (~10%), Faelorn (~5%), Upsin (~5%). Efydd. Efyddians. Government: Constitutional monarchy — The Queen of Efydd is the head of state, but their parliament controls affairs. Description: A country nestled between Sappir and Himaya, with tight border security on the western edge and an open border on the eastern edge. It is the center of philosophy and religion in the world, with many holy places and accredited schools. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Faelorn (~60%), Dorthan (~15%), Upsin (~15%), Thantori (~10%). Gorudo. Gorudons. Government: Federal republic, with some direct democracy. Description: A continental area with a large fishing and logging industry. Education is standard. Roughly three-quarters of its population is not religious, but the country is highly tolerant. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Thantori (~70%), Dorthan (~20%), Faelorn (~5%), Upsin (~5%). Himaya. Himayans. Government: Democratic republic — President, Parliament, and High Court. Semi-strong centralized government, with several weaker provinces. Description: A coastal country bordered in the south by the Oorti Sea and the east by the Noxard Ocean, it has large, lush forests with a continental climate zone and a savanna climate zone. The country participates a lot in trade, and resells goods bought from Dayaman. It also has mines in the north. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Dorthan (~60%), Faelorn (~25%), Upsin (~10%), Thantori (~5%). Nintale. Nintaleians. Government: Dictatorship under a queen. Description: A cold northern land with a large fishing, logging, and fur industry. It engages in trade with Sappir. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Faelorn (~90%), Dorthan (~5%), Thantori (~5%). Perak. Peraki. Government: Monarchy under an emperor. Description: A small island nation and former imperial colony of Smaragd that participates a lot in agriculture and sells rare gems and produce to Smaragd, Efydd, and Himaya. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Thantori (~50%), Faelorn (~30%), Upsin (~20%). Sappir. Sappiri. Government: Theocracy under the High Priest. Description: A land build on the hills and plains along the Greater Arcarti coast. With many rivers, it has very sustained agriculture, but sees a lot of flooding. It also has a large mining industry. It has strong border conflicts with Efydd. This land has a strong belief in racial purity and Faelorn supremacy. There are no mixes here, and the mixes that are made are killed in mass genocide. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Faelorn (~90%), Dorthan (~10%). Smaragd. Smaragdans. Government: Absolute monarchy — The head monarch can either be a queen or a king, with their spouse taking the title of 'First' (hence, First King, First Queen). Their heir can be one of their children, or a selected person. Description: This country on Forjinn controls a large mountain and exports agriculture and minerals. In order from greatest to least, the racial composition of the country is: Faelorn (~60%), Thantori (~20%), Upsin (~15%), Dorthan (~5%).
--- Races of Uldor.
Dorthan. The Dorthan are this world's equivalent of humans. They are much like the jacks of all trades, exhibiting great variation in their traits much like the other races. Not akin to the humans of our world, however, they may have eyes of all colors, except for white, which does not occur naturally in their eye pigments. Their hair is confined to our natural colors. They are among the strongest. Faelorn. The Faelorn are much like the elves of contemporary fantasy, however they are much more like the Hylians depicted in the Legend of Zelda series. The Faelorn show a large amount of mental aptitude and physical precision, however their bodies are weaker albeit living 10-20 more years on average than the Dorthan. Innate traits they may possess include a natural beauty with paler skin and higher cheekbones, hair of all colors except for shades of green, and the same eye variations as the Dorthan, however sometimes their eyes may be lighter-colored. Thantori. The Thantori are unlike contemporary dwarven races, being they are only slightly shorter than the Dorthan, averaging five feet and reaching five and a half feet at maximum. At age 17, they grow gray horns at the corners of their forehead. They live around the same amount of time as the Dorthan. Upsin. The Upsin are the most peculiar, living to be almost 100 years on average, but 140 years at maximum. At age 15, they grow proportionate wings capable of carrying them in the air. They are often taller than the Faelorn, which makes the Upsin the tallest race of Uldor. Mixes of these races can and do occur. Mixes, however, cannot be found in Sappir at all. Mixes have occurred between 3 races before, but not without the suppression of one of the race's traits. Also keep in mind that mixes are not completely common, but they are a little more common in Himaya than elsewhere.
--- Magic of Uldor.
Please send me a message if you'd like for your character to have some sort of proficiency in magic before you make your first post with them. Beyond that, characters can learn magic throughout the role-play from non-player characters and other players's characters. Learning magic from other players's characters that they themselves have not mastered will produce less progress over the course of mastering that magic—this means that it's more efficient to learn from a well-versed teacher who has mastered the magic. Slowly your character will be more proficient with their magic (if they have any), which will cause their spells to have a higher rate of success and a higher amount of ability. The usage of magic has repercussions. As characters use magic, they deplete their life energy (really this is a number that I use to limit your usage of spells). When a character does not have enough life energy, the magic will not be cast. If the character has enough life energy but reduces their life energy to 0 after using magic, they will die, and otherwise, a certain threshold will cause exhaustion and force the user to go unconscious. Life energy is restored through sleep and meditation, but it can be increased using orbs and gems to store more life energy. Usually it is best to charge them before sleep as it costs your own energy to charge them. Sometimes things you could find might have an innate life energy in them. Despite the plus sides of energy storage, however, they, too, have limits.
--- Character Roster. Player characters' names link to their character sheet. I'd rather have you try and figure it out by sending me a PM rather than making it up on your own, especially since making it up is a little ignorant of the fact that you don't have to when I've planned out most of the world. ^u^ As far as writing tips go, if you would like me to help you with your writing throughout this roleplay or move up from the free section to the casual section, go ahead and ask me about that as well! I can recommend some excellent guides for characters and writing style as well as correct your mistakes.
