“In any case, we need to get up to speed with the Aurora,” continued Noelle, nodding toward Alara. “Let’s see what they’ve learned from the other ships.”
USS Aurora - Bridge He was partially slumped in his chair, to say he was fatigued would be a colossal understatement, but then a quick glance across the bridge – it was the same across the board. At this point he’d had enough, but his crew came first. Standing, he decided to make an announcement. “Can I have you attention everyone?” As they turned in his direction, he spoke once more. “Okay, all main bridge crew, I order you all to go get some rest. I need you at your best for what is to come.” What about you, sir?” Inquired the Vulcan politely, but there were clearly undertones of concern. “Once you’ve all gotten a good five hours then I’ll go do the same.” “Wouldn’t it be better if you went now sir?” He hadn’t heard his Chief Medical Officer get off the turbolift. “Not really. I can’t fly the ship, use weapons, listen to communications nor conduct science scans.” His head moved side-to-side, “Well I can, but not at the same time. So I need my senior staff rested and refreshed.” “Yes sir.” “Jonah, give me a stimulant.” “Are you really sure that’s necessary?” “Yes, I’ve got to go meet the Captain of the Valorous Intent. So I kinda need to be awake for that.” “Are you sure? It’s always so much quieter when you’re asleep.” He deadpanned, “We get so much more work done.” It was at this point he started to whistle innocently, staring absently at the view screen. A couple of other officers smiled then went about their business. “Yeah, thanks for that.” As he turned to exit the bridge, “I’ll have a nurse come up shortly. It’ll only last you three hours though.” He shook his head, could not hold back the good-natured smile. “Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually the Captain.” He went to communications, and contacted the Illustrious, “Captain Noelle. This is Captain Weston. It is good to finally see your face now that we at least have a quiet half hour. I have just dismissed my senior bridge staff to go get some sleep, and would suggest that you do the same – depending on how your repairs are. I am just on my way to meet the Captain of the Valorous Intent, and formally invite you to join me if you are able. I am just heading down to the shuttle bay now. So if you need a ride, just let me know. Otherwise I hope to you see you there.” He then sent the coordinates. Within a couple of minutes the replacement bridge staff arrived. Getting ready to give a good first impression, and all that, it was time to make diplomatic contact. “Lieutenant Duran, you have command. Ensure the shuttle is ready for launch when I get there.” “Yes sir.” As he entered the turboloft, felt the beginnings of a headache begin with tension across his shoulders. He just needed another hour, or so, and then he’d get some sleep, even if it was a catnap. Although he deeply suspected it’d end up far more than that. But right now, he had a job to do. As the doors opened the shuttle bay was reasonably active, but considering that they’d just undertaken a major rescue and repair operation of the Illustrious, it was hardly surprising.
“That is a very gracious offer Captain Weston. My ship lacks small craft and I will not break formation with the Andromeda while my people are aboard, so you will have to meet me on my ship. I will make sure the dorsal bay has space to land a small craft.”
Shuttlecraft He opened communications with the VI. “Captain Shohashi, this is Captain Weston of the USS Aurora. I am just departing now, so please be aware that my shuttle is inbound.” Hitting ignition watched as his ship became a distant object as he headed towards the unknown. It became quite obvious just how small the other vessel was, but that did not mean too much and looks, and size, could be quite deceitful thing. He’d ordered the Aurora to come in a bit closer, just in case an emergency beam out was required. He only hoped it would not be. The other vessel was rapidly approaching, and watched as the hanger doors opened to allow entry. As he landed, with barely a bump, waiting for the ramp to descend, sighed, and exited with only a communicator. OOC: Arrived on the Valorous Intent.
