Alright, Aeon. You said we could come with ideas for custom creatures? Here we go!
Name: Tartaric Class: Arachnid Disposition: Aggressive/Carnivorous (may appear playful to trick its prey) Description: Can be nearly anywhere where there are either Infected or human settlements. It is as big as a grown man’s palm at the time of birth, sporting eight legs and a scorpion-like tail with a standard stinger attached at the end. The entire body, including the tail, is covered in coarse fur similar to that of short haired dog’s. Colour varies from jet black to light brown to a creamy white. As opposed to many of its arachnid cousins, the Tartaric only have two pupil-less eyes located above a cat-like mouth. The Tartaric, when fully grown, is about thirty centimetres in length, and twenty in width, including the legs (sizes may vary). When it matures, after roughly two months, the stinger on its tail falls away, given way to an empty hole through which it can spray a powerful acid which will quickly melt through clothes flesh. Even wood and stone falls prey to its acid, but most metals - as well as their own bodies - seems to be resistant to the acid. The acid is stored in a small sack near the base of its tail, holding enough for five ‘sprays’ before it has to generate new acid, which takes sixteen to twentyfour hours, depending on size. Its preferred way of hunting is eating its prey alive, immobilizing it by destroying its legs or other limbs with their acid and then feast upon where the acid hit, taking out chunks of the already weakened flesh. Cases of the Tartaric appearing playful to try to make its prey (whether unknowing human or good-natured critter) play with it, and lower its guard have been observed. All cases of such have resulted in the Tartaric attacking soon after, spraying acid in the eyes and on the limbs of its victims. This behavior hints at a higher brain function than the average predator, although nothing substantial aside from this has been observed. Its wild lifespan is unknown, although one held in captivity and fed dead meat daily survived for two years.
Hope you like it!
