Squall, and Zell were considered "masters" of their respective fighting styles and still lost quite a bit. I mean I akin it to Black Belts. Trained since god knows when to reach Black Belt 1st level but still has a long way to go. I know what you are saying. Just two different thought patterns. I thought of it as the fact that students are trained from a very young age and he's able to master an aspect of his swordsmanship which has only made him accomplished but still has ways to go. I understand though. Change and finish things later.
