Tracy let out a long sigh and got out her notebook, whispering at Phillip that he should do the same. "But I'm not going to take notes," he complained softly. "The teacher talks too fast." "Pretend to take notes," hissed Tracy. "Like last year. Write gibberish, I don't care. Just look like you're going to be working." She leaned back tiredly when she was satisfied that Phillip had gotten the message. Sometimes she had to repeat things to him. Phillip looked warily around the classroom, not keeping his eyes on anyone for more than a second; he certainly didn't want to risk making eye contact with anyone. It made him feel vulnerable.
