The sudden switches are supposed to catch you off guard. :P She does it really fluidly. I like to think that she sometimes does it just to catch people off guard. And yeah, her powers are all tailored for defence, from the immunity to physical attacks to stopping attacks with her order. My favourite examples: When she helped Ridge escape from Sreig by just standing in front of him and letting him punch her. I still laugh every time I think of her just standing there nonchalantly, not moving an inch. And there's the one where she stopped Grim's bullet at the last possible moment.
