The The Plague and the Great Blight began about 10 years ago and lasted for the next 8.5 years. After those eight and a half years (roughly 1.5 years ago) the Blightlord invaded the mainland, rolled over the factions within a few months, and has been dealing the last pockets of resistance for the time being.

Elaria is in the northeast; if one was to travel westwards, they'd trek through Varan and eventually into Westmarch. If you traveled southwest you'd go through Remes and finally into Sulture (located in the far southwest). So no, Elaria only borders Varan, Remes, and the eastern portion of the map (part Badlands, part Elaria). I could give a map later, but it would be a horribly made map.
