Mars consists of dozens of city states, controlled under a strict totatalitarian government made possible through terraforming technology. Mars is the most populated human planet in the known galaxy. Humans on Mars hold high nationalism for their government, and often think highly of themselves compared to other humans or Citedel species. Fire arms of any sort, speaking out against the government, as well as being a conduit, is strictly illegal.
