1. First off not intentionally killing people is common sense. RP rules are codes of conduct OOC not IC. This is meant to be realistic. It's unrealistic for a guy to intentionally allow civilians to die and get away without being labeled a criminal and being locked up. The villains did not save the civilians on purpose, Flasher teleporting away teleported all the the debris that would have crushed them. They accidentally saved them. 2. I can't be expected to explain every single little thing about the universe from the start. I painted the general strokes and then filled in the details. IE, Savant making new limbs for amputees. You can then extrapolate this to see that the League is involved in charity events. I'm not changing the fundamental rules as we go, I'm elaborating. If you have questions about the setting I didn't explain enough, please ask. I'm always open to talk to. And seriously? There are four, five people from the old thread tops. 3. Later in the series is when we can play vigilantes, mercenaries, and villains. This is not later. This is barely one half-day into the story. And of course there's complex moralities. Sixgun shot a guy in the head. Doppler is an opportunistic power thief. Sonja is a show-boating gloryhound. Volt is a self-hating cynic. It's not complex morality for a character to be cynical and edgy and think the entire world completely sucks when evidence is to the contrary. 4. This RP is in no way Black and White. Characters have already been forced into morally compromising situations ie Sixgun again whose working for the Outfit. All the background lore about the divisive politics, the prejudice, the intolerance, and volatile world stage makes you write off the whole thing as Black and White? Of course there's issues with the League being in power, but how would those issues be brought into the rp without it seeming hackneyed at the moment the story is in? Why is it so unbelievable for an organization to do mostly good? How is allowing psychotics and un-paragons into the League not the opposite of Black and White? 5. Realistic is relative. This is grounded like I said. No kid sidekicks because endangerment. No time-travelling and parallel universes. Yet. No Aliens yet. No Artificial intelligence yet. No ignoring the laws of science just because magic. No villains just willy-nilly murdering people day in and out because heroes. And No fictional cities or countries. Batman is highly unrealistic and Pariah is a somewhat more grounded version of that. Also notice how all the background villain organizations are based off of actual realistic political ideologies not convoluted villain origins. Same goes for the political situation between Nations and at home. All of which hasn't been explored yet because it doesn't fit in with the current plot. 6. The League has good intentions, obviously. I stated beforehand that they have a massive commercial line however. That's where they make most of their money from, along with things like collecting bounties for catching criminals which they do, and the Bruce Wayne method of a few of them being rich. I never said the League gave most of its money to charities, just that they were involved in charity work. If you sat down for a minute and thought about what superhumans could do for humanitarian causes you'd find literally hundreds of ways to help. 7. And when did I ever say their fleet was endless? Of course it costs a lot of money, off-set by the powers of their own members. You can do a lot when you have people, who control the elements and have magic powers. And they only just reached a thousand people and the salaries are decent, the same pay that most middle-class americans get. They don't take home CEO salaries. The VTOLs shoot at people flying in the sky, they are flying. In the sky, above the prison. This is an RP where people can make power armor and lasers. More accurate machine guns are not somehow impossible. You stated that they'd obviously cause massive damage to the prison which I just said they wouldn't that doesn't make it unrealisitc. 8. The same reason why comic books have weaker characters. Because they can still make a difference. I've said this a million times. There are ways to help besides killing a bunch of bad guys. Zenith isn't an instant win button and neither is Pariah who relies on PCs to help him. Having a powerful NPC does not kill tension because he can't be there all the time to solve every problem and I actively keep him from doing that. Was all the dramatic tension in the Marconi and Slaughterhouse plots robbed because Zenith existed? 9. I hate your character because IC they dismiss literally everyone who isn't nice to her even though she acts like a hypocritical, self-entitled, know-it-all rube. This is not to be construed as dismissive, if I was dismissive I would have had her be trampled by a troll or something. I'm being clear on my feelings of the IC character, not you and the way you play them. There's a difference. Your character made up their mind about the League after ten minutes. I can hate a character currently but like them later, it;'s called character development. This is obviously not my Sandbox alone. Polyphemus and BlackSam are the ones who approached me with Sixgun being a mole and Furious being captured. And their characters are instrumental to their plot. Their villains are instrumental to the plot. I cannot believe you insinuate that I do not allow players to be collaborate with me when that is what I have always encouraged. The PCs are instrumental to the plot because they're the ones with free agency. 10. This is a no-kill RP. I could have somebody killed but then that'd be incredibly unfair. I don't do it. I'm always open to dialogue with players and I always find a way to compromise. Hellhound being a prime example. 11. There are 12,000 inmates. Three people can't handle them alone. That should be self-evident. That's because this is realistic. I'm not sure when there was any fourth-wall breaking about antiheroes. Ever. Disliking them is my personal opinion, I don't allow it to color my GMing. I call people out on grey behavior because it wouldn't make sense in the world at this point in time. Do I show any preferential treatment to any character? Hell no. 12. What do you mean buck the norm? Every character bucks the norm. Abysse's and Archmage's characters buck the norm six ways from sunday. And I'm not allowing more brooding, cynical, asshats in because then what happens? It get's boring and grimdark for the sake of being grimdark not for the sake of being balanced and realistic. 13. Are you advocating me to kill of characters because that's just confusing. And Agnes threw a grenade in the monster field and I've said it like five times that there's a huge difference between accidental and purposeful collateral damage. I already admitted my mistake in Abe's case. And Zenith never fought the monsters before the prison they showed up while he was there and it took a couple dozen heroes, air support, and armor to kill 200 mindless beasts. Are you ignoring things on purpose just to argue? 14. I'm not determining your character's morality. But that morality has to make sense with the current state of the RP. I allow you to be arrogant, cynical, showboating, lusty, psychotic, sociopathic, whatever. But having too damn many mean characters makes things boring. And again not caring about civilians doesn't mean you should flatten them and expect to not be arrested later. Multiple players have said to me that they don't like all the "edgy" characters being there just to be edgy. Naturally I'd want more sympathetic heroes to balance it out. 15. I never stated I would kill her off but professionalism stops me. I said I could but I won't, not that I want to but I could, but I'd be a huge asshole. And being overly cynical does not make a work nuanced. This work is not pure Black and White and there is all the evidence to the contrary. When have I ever shown any personal dislike for you or anyone else? Ever? At any time? I take every chance I can to talk things out with players and treat them with respect. I like all of you but even then I have to ask you to lower your power levels. I try to be fair, and when I'm not I fix the mistake. How is any of that disliking you? You read a personal angle into all of this and you couldn't be any more wrong.
