“This has ‘rigged’ all over it” Silver said as she smiled to Kenya, the female tribute of one. “You think so?” Replied Finnick, although it wasn’t really a question. “See what happened in 8?” He asked, and Silver nodded. “Yeah, my parents work are militants back home… they weren’t being discreet about it” She informed. “How were they when they saw you were going back in the arena?” Finnick asked, taking a handful of sugar cubes from the bowl, and popping one into his mouth. “Tears of pride” Silver informed irritably. They were warped, proud to have a victor as a daughter, and one as deadly as she was. Of course, in two they were trained for battle. It was illegal, yet in District 1 and 2 they were prepared and taught how to fight. That was why they were known as the Career tributes. “I hate the fucking Capitol!” Silver hissed venomously. “Really?” Finnick asked her, looking at her with sincerity in his eyes. “Really!” Repeated Silver. “Then maybe you should go talk to Haymitch” Finnick suggested. “The drunk? Why?” She asked, but they were joined by another before he could say anymore. She was far too bouncy and joyful, and Silver raised an eyebrow at her. “You’re far too happy” Silver remarked. “Excuse me if I am not that happy being entered into the arena again” “Hey, at least they’ve given you odds on to win” Finnick said. “Most of us here, we’ve been written off” he added. “Yeah, and years of building up friendships with people and then having to kill them, not exactly something to be thrilled about” Silver counter acted. “Maybe you should talk with Haymitch” Said Finnick, popping another sugar cube into his mouth. “I am going to greet our newbies” He said, before heading over to talk with Katniss. Silver sighed and she looked back to Jennah, she was from district 10, one of the poorest districts. District 2 was one of the favourites, and she had not really struggled as they others had, being raised to fight. Jenna was pretty and she had a bright and happy face. Silver remembered watching her win, something she had not expected. The gong sounded which meant everyone was to head to their chariots and Silver offered the kindest smile she could summon. “Best go please the plebs” The blonde said to Jennah. “I’ll catch you later” She added before heading over to the carriage of district 2. On the way she passed Jacobi of district 1, and Silver playfully spanked him on his rear. “Looking good, grumpy” She teased as she climbed into the carriage besides Brutus. They both were in Gladiator style clothing and looked as deadly and fierce as the ancient warriors they posed, and Silver had her face set. She wasn’t going to smile, because quite frankly, the Capitol could fuck off. * * * “Is this for real?” Kaygo asked, looking to the face of the drunken mentor, who seemed to be sober, for the time being anyway. “It is, but it is to be kept quiet, no one is to know unless they come to me” Haymitch informed leaning in, and Kaygo then caught the scent of liquor on his breath. Kaygo leaned back a little, but Haymitch clamped a hand on his shoulder. “You need to keep this quiet!” Snapped Haymitch. “Alright… jeez!” Retorted Kaygo, easily pushing his hand off him. “So what, do I speak with my mentor, or…” “No!” Haymitch replied. “Few mentors have been told, some are too close to the Capitol. Also, your uncle would sell us out for morphling” Haymitch informed. “Hey! No he wouldn’t dare, he…” But again Haymitch cut him off. “He would, and not for the first time. But if you are in, I will get in touch, there will be one training session where more information will be given. Till there, keep schtum” Haymitch said before slapping him on the shoulder and walking off, greeting his friend Chaff. Kaygo was left on his own and he was quickly lost in thought; a rebellion! They were going to fight against the Capitol and the games, all they had to do was keep Katniss and Peeta alive. Kaygo looked to the district 12 tributes and he thought for a moment, and he finally decided, he was on. If he could arrange so that his family would be rescued and kept safe and if it could be promised, then he would protect Peeta in the arena and help Katniss. Kaygo was about to go over and introduce himself, but the gong sounded. He sighed and walked to the six carriages, smiling to the other tributes he had made friends with over the years. Mila, his fellow tribute, climbed into the carriage and she stared ahead. She had the same look as all the other addicts, yellowing skin and dark heavy eyes shrouded in shadow. He placed a hand on her shoulder and she looked to him, her face alive with fear. He sighed and moved his hand down and took her bony hand in his, and the carriage pulled forwards. The large black horses pulled them out into the auditorium, and the cheers sounded. He kept a hold of the hand of the woman beside him, she was racked with fear and a withdrawal from the morphling was starting to set in. Kaygo shook his head, he would never allow that drug in his system, and it was disgusting and destroying. He looked to the people in the stands, who screamed and cheered. Vultures, screaming for the blood of their former champions. Death was their entertainment, sick bastards. Kaygo looked back ahead and his mind went back to his home.
