Its classic super over the top, yet tame, Fist of the North Star anime. Its a very classic anime thats known as a main anime staple alongside One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, and the like. Lots of explosions and fast motion with some comedy thrown in. Though DBZ has lots and lots of filler, Kai removes most of that, but there is some filler from DBZ that is pretty decent.

What sets it apart from other fist of the north star animes is that it has decent writing and isn't pretentious, it just tells a story, and a decent one at that of a boy growing up (Dragon ball) A father and son, as well as a villain having a face heel turn and learning what it means to have a family.
